“Wonder is the beginning of Wisdom” - Socrates

Kia Ora Tatou. Ko Taranaki te maunga. Ko Whaiwakaiho te awa, No Ngamotu ahau.

At the core of my teaching philosophy is the belief that my role as a teacher is to facilitate learning experiences that unlock a child’s potential - their intelligence, imagination, creativity and a joy for life long learning. I endeavour to get to know the children in my class as holistic learners by forming strong relationships with each of them as individuals.

I have a particular interest in ‘Learning through Play’ and the power of a child’s voice as part of the learning process. I recently attended a ‘Talking Matters’ conference which enabled me to revisit my passion for studying the acquisition of language. Room 12 is rarely a quiet space. I adore the sound of children’s chatter as they go about their day at school.

I feel privileged to work in an environment of such natural beauty, having taught here since 2010. I love peppermint tea, coffee, cooking, reading, knitting, sewing, visiting art galleries, Nordic Walking and spending time with family and friends.
